Resiliency & Grant Work

There are two exciting opportunities to help the local environment from Sustainability Planner & Grant Coordinator Montanna Cassel:

    1. Transform your single use plastic bags into a bench with the NEX TREX Bags to Benches program. Bag collection sites are located at the Cohasset Middle/High School (front entrances and cafeteria), Town Hall, Willcutt Commons, & Deer Hill Elementary School. Help clean up the local environment and create something useful for the community – a flyer is below.Graphic describing how to recycle your single use plastic bag into a bench
    2. WaterSmart is a nonprofit partnership between the North & South River Watershed Association and 12 towns on the South Shore: Cohasset, Duxbury, Hanover, Hingham, Hull, Kingston, Marshfield, Norwell, Pembroke, Rockland, Scituate and Weymouth. This is an opportunity for residents to learn about different ways to adapt to climate change right in your own backyard. If you want to make your home more sustainable, this is the program to help you start making that difference.

    3. CSCR & Worcester Polytechnic Institute student, Amelia McDonough, has been working with Montanna Cassel to update Cohasset's stormwater drain data. Amelia has created an ArcGIS map for residents to be aware of where the stormwater drains are located between Parker Ave, Boarder Street, Elm Street, and the Paul Pratt Library.  She was assisted by Elsie Hession, Matt Lucitt, Ada Cogill, & Bella Bottini to conduct the stenciling. This project has progressed the Engineering and Project Management goal of the 2019 Cohasset Master Plan.
